A perfect venue to engage kids and adults of all ages. Kids experience hands-on learning in the different exhibits at the Children’s Museum. Located on a 90,000 square feet of exhibit space, this museum includes several outdoor and indoor exhibit galleries.

1.Cum Yah Gullah
The Children’s Museum of Houston is reviving the arts and practices of the Gullah people in a powerful and reinvented exhibit, titled Cum Yah Gullah. This exhibit aims to provide and preserve cultural understanding of Gullah traditions, develop an appreciation for one’s own culture and background, and also explores the ecosystems and geography of the Sea Islands.
The Gullah heritage is distinct and is expressed in this exhibit through the culture’s unique customs, music, storytelling, language and more.
You will be inspired to reflect and investigate on your own culture and the culture of others, by exploring this rich history of Gullah culture!
2. Newton Know-How!
Another exhibit in the Children’s Museum of Houston, where you can engage in fun and educational activities. These educational activities will help you understand with the laws of motion, associated with physics.
Come and step into a world, with action as you dig into friction, gravity, force, momentum and speed in the Newton Know-How! exhibit. This exhibit started on 4 Feb of this year and be open till 7 May, 2017, at the Children’s Museum of Houston.
Children get a hands-on experience in this exhibit, especially designed for open-ended explorations of physics. The William Stamp Farish Fund, a non-profit organization is the sponsor for this exhibit.
3.Chevron-Houston Texans Maker Annex
The Houston Texans in partnership with Chevron enhanced the STEM Maker (Science, Math, Classroom, School, Teaching) Annex at the Children’s Museum of Houston. This is the best place, where children can showcase their work, through inventions and construct made by them.
Children can even tap into their creative potential with access to resources such as casting, programming with Scratch and Arduino, building and soldering circuits, game development, 3D printing, circuit bending, laser cutting, animation, robotics and many more.
The workshop at the exhibit, begin by introducing various engineering concepts. The topics in the workshops, focuses on everything from electricity to structural integrity. Visitors at the museum, are then challenged to create products, which in turn encourages learning through self-exploration.
Every workshop done, is designed to expose participants to a handful of materials and tools. Even, habits needed to safely work with the tools, and the best skills, in the Maker Annex, are limited to ages 8, with a parent or a guardian.
Maker Annex hours, are limited from 5:30 – 7:30pm, on Thursdays; and from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, on Saturdays for the general public. For the school tours, the workshop works from 9:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1:45 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Tuesdays; and from 9:45 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1:45 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Wednesdays.

4. Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program
Inspired by the Western heritage, nearly about 50 pieces of artwork, add spark at the Children’s Museum of Houston. Created by students from all over Texas, who participated over the years, in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program .
It is estimated that about, more than 300,000 entries are received from about 100 school districts, and more than 30-private schools in Houston and surrounding areas every year. These Western-inspired masterpieces, can be viewed now in the Museum’s colorful Kids’ Hall.

5.Cyberchase
The Cyberchase exhibit, at the Children’s Museum Of Houston is aligned to the Math TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills), a Texas Education Agency for Kindergarten through Grade 5. Based on Cyberchase, the Emmy Award-winning math mystery cartoon, “Cyberchase – The Chase Is On!” presents math in a kid-friendly environment, and fun, allowing children to make use of their thinking skills and approach math with a positive attitude.
Children can enter through a special portal to explore favorite cybersites, including the Grim Wreaker, the Control Central and the Poddleville. Get the opportunity to help the CyberSquad, in protecting the virtual universe from the evil Hacker.
Explore various math concepts, such as fractions and probability, algebra, geometry and place values. Not only children will learn maths, but will also be able to experience many activities.
“Cyberchase – The Chase Is On!” is in partnership with ‘Thirteen’, America’s most respected and innovative public media providers, with major funding provided by the JPB Foundation, and EY, a multinational professional services firm in the UK.
